Welcome to our piece of paradise on the central coast! Below are a few fun facts to get you acquainted with our beautiful beach town.

Ventura lies nestled between the hills and the water on California's Central Coast, as well as along iconic Highway 1, welcoming visitors to endless summers and 273 days of sunshine every year. Whether you’re looking to visit during the summer, winter, spring, or fall, you’ll be able to enjoy everything Ventura has to offer both indoors and outdoors.

The town's relaxed coastal energy, creative community, and soothing charm make it a standout stop for travelers. Ventura slides perfectly into a Highway 1 roadtrip - whether you're cruising down from Monterey Bay or heading North to Big Sur, Ventura is the ideal stop for a picture-perfect moment.

After our Mission Basilica San Buenaventura was founded, a large wooden cross was planted at the top of our hill, overlooking the church. To this day, Serra Cross in Grant Park is a local and visitor favorite offering the best view in all of Ventura.

Ventura’s beaches are enjoyed year-round to surf, fish, boogie board, sunbathe, stroll, or enjoy a captivating sunset over the blue waters of the Pacific Ocean.

Ventura Beach Promenade is the starting point for two amazing bike paths- a coastal route that leads to Santa Barbara, and a mountain route that descends into Ojai.

Just a couple of blocks from the water, there is something for all the senses in Downtown Ventura; lined with local businesses and boutiques, such as Iron & Resin, Betty Belts, Findings Market, and many more thrift shop options. Ventura’s music and cultural scene is bright, with The Rubicon Theater hosting jaw-dropping theatrical performances and The Ventura Music Hall and The Majestic Ventura Theater bringing in musical talent. There is always something fun to do in Ventura.

Another captivating spot along Ventura’s coast is Ventura Harbor Village — one of the largest squid offloading harbors in North America. Visitors can explore a diverse array of restaurants, boutique shops, and galleries. Kayaks, canoes, and pedal boats are available to rent for a fun adventure and an opportunity to get close to sea lions.

Just off Ventura’s coast lies Channel Islands National Park. Smugglers Cove on Santa Cruz Island is an eight-mile trail that ascends along a grassy plateau that provides great views of the Pacific Ocean and the other islands. Other activities available around the islands include snorkeling, diving, sea cave kayaking, whale watching, bird watching, and camping.

With so much to offer, it’s up to you to discover what Ventura means for you. Share your experience with us at #VisitVentura and don’t forget to come by the Visitor Center for even more local tips!
