Whale Watching Season in Oxnard

OXNARD - Catch a glimpse of nature during Whale Watching Season taking place off the coast of Oxnard. The season begins the day after Christmas, December 26 and runs through mid-April. Both Island Packers and Channel Islands Sportfishing Center offer daily excursions to view the Pacific Gray Whales during their annual journey.

Cambria Art & Wine Festival

CAMBRIA - From Friday, January 25, through Sunday, January 27, the Cambria Art & Wine Festival will celebrate two of the things that make Cambria so unique. With wine tasting, art shows, auctions, wine and food pairings, and artist demonstrations, wine and art lovers from all over California will find plenty to do during this festival weekend.

Streetcar Named Desire

SANTA MARIA - Set in the French Quarter of New Orleans during the restless years following World War Two, A STREETCAR NAMED DESIRE is the story of Blanche DuBois, a fragile and neurotic woman on a desperate prowl for someplace in the world to call her own. This 1948 Pulitzer Prize for Drama award winning play, opened on Broadway on Decebmer 3, 1947. Presented January 25 through February 10 by Santa Maria Civic Theatre.

Whalefest Monterey

MONTEREY - Celebrate the return of gray whales to the Monterey Bay during Whalefest Monterey! Old Fisherman's Wharf and Custom House Plaza in historic downtown Monterey throw quite the migration party for these much loved creatures during the 2-day festival.

Helen Hunt Jackson

Experience Helen Hunt Jackson’s 1882 visit to Rancho Camulos which inspired her to include this vestige of the California lifestyle as one of the settings for her novel "Ramona".  This year’s re-enactment has been expanded to two performances with a meet-and-greet reception with Helen Hunt Jackson and the Del Valle family to follow each one. 34th Annual Santa Barbara International Film Festival

SANTA BARBARA - The Santa Barbara International Film Festival celebrates its 34th anniversary in beautiful downtown Santa Barbara. The event draws some of the biggest names in cinema amidst the buzz of Oscar season. This romantic comedy is a whimsical homage to playmaking and a glimpse into the kind of passion that may have inspired one of the greatest love stories of all time. Suffering from a bad case of writer's block, young Will Shakespeare falls in love with Viola. Against a bustling background of mistaken identity, ruthless scheming, and backstage theatrics, Will's love for her inspires him to write his masterpiece, Romeo and Juliet.

Migration Festival

SANTA CRUZ - Fly, swim, waddle, walk, bike or drive as you migrate to Natural Bridges State Beach for a full-day of activities that celebrate the migration of whales, butterflies, birds and the many creatures that travel. The park will host migratory animal talks, active kids' games, crafts, educational booths and displays, along with the now-famous free habitat-cake served at the end of the event!

Lady Washington & Hawaiian Chieftain

VENTURA - Tall Ships return to visit Ventura Harbor and Ventura Harbor Village. Ventura Harbor Village will host both vessels from Feb 12-20; Hawaiian Chieftain alone Feb 20-24; and Lady Washington alone from Feb 26-Mar 4. Enjoy educational programs, vessel tours, and sailing trips. Tours generally occur only the first Friday in port from 2-6pm and on weekends from 10am-1pm. VENTURA - Ventura Harbor Village's Mermaid Month returns in March. The event features a dozen coastal boutiques and galleries feature mermaid merchandise. Highlights include a live mermaid meet and greet, entertainment and crafts. Most activities are free.

4th Annual Beer March

CAMARILLO - This annual event features over 20 craft breweries that partner with local downtown businesses and also offer a fun community day of live entertainment for family and friends who can get their "Irish on". Beer drinkers, 21 years of age and over, will receive a keepsake beer glass. Tickets are $35 each in advance, and $45 each the day of the event.
