Change of a Season for Elephant Seals

SAN SIMEON - Catch the end of pupping season at the Piedras Blancas rookery in San Simeon. Elephant seal pups, referred to as “weaners,” will be testing their swimming skills on the beach. Some of the weaners you’ll find on the beach have been fed by two mothers, giving them extra baby weight. These “super weaners” try to shed those pounds before moving into the water for their first swim.

Whale Trail Viewing Starts in Spring

SAN SIMEON - Each year one of nature’s most spectacular migration happens underwater along a path called the Whale Trail. This trail stretches from Canada to Mexico, giving the Central Coast stunning views of more than 30 species of whales. Explore Lompoc Preview at La Purisima

LOMPOC - The American Junior Golf Association (AJGA) is charting a course for promising youth at the AJGA’s 3rd Annual newly renamed, “Explore Lompoc Preview at La Purisima,” a national Preview Series golf tournament. The three-day adventure attracts nearly 80 players, ages 12-19 years old, for 36 holes of stroke play. Teens from seven states and four foreign countries come together and participate with players from Lompoc and other California cities. Spectators are invited to attend the tournament at no cost.
