Monterey 250

MONTEREY 250 CELEBRATIONS ARE CURRENTLY ON HOLD. Monterey 250 is a yearlong celebration in coordination with the 250th anniversary of the founding of Monterey on June 3, 1770. Throughout the year 2020, Monterey’s unique history will be honored through ongoing cultural activities, events, and festivities to commemorate this historic occasion, including an Art Gala and new public art unveiling, a Fandango, Block Party, and the main day birthday celebration on June 3, 2020.

Arte Forastero Sculpture Exhibit

VENTURA - Now through November 30, the Museum of Ventura County and Ventura Botanical Gardens are hosting 14 regional artists in their first collaboration. Sculptures and installation works are installed in the Botanical Gardens nursery and lower trails and in the museum’s outdoor Plaza along Main Street in Downtown Ventura.  9 a.m. to 5 p.m . Wed-Sun. Dogs are welcome on Wednesdays and Fridays. $7 per person.

Holidays in Your Car

VENTURA - Everyone is adapting creatively to our new world. From November 22 through January 2nd, CBF Productions is hosting “Holidays in Your Car” at the Ventura County Fairgrounds. No, you can’t walk Holiday bedecked neighborhoods. But from your car you can thrill to the happy symphony of Holiday tunes illuminated by over one million LED lights, Holograms, lasers and projection mapping. Think Clark Griswold on amphetamines.

Lights At Cambria Pines

CAMBRIA - The Cambria Christmas Market will be replaced by Lights at Cambria Pines. This light display includes many of the light displays from Cambria Christmas Market but will undergo changes to ensure guest and staff safety. Lights at Cambria Pines will only be accessible to guests booked on the Christmas rate at Cambria Pines Lodge, J Patrick House & Inn, and Sea Otter Inn, Nov 27 – Jan 2 (closed Dec 24 and 25).

Light Up Downtown

SAN LUIS OBISPO - Visit San Luis Obispo during its brightest season yet. Local storefronts and streets in the city’s downtown core are uniting to “Light Up Downtown,” an unforgettable walkable and drivable event that’s fun and safe for the whole family. Participating businesses’ window displays will be transformed into holiday themed-scapes brought to life by countless lights, both inside and out, to be enjoyed by everyone.

Elks Recreation: Christmas In The Country

SANTA MARIA - Join the first Annual “Christmas in the Country” this holiday season. Embark on a drive-through magical holiday light experience at the Elks Event Center with displays presented by local businesses and families. Children can put their letters to Santa in Santa’s mailbox for delivery! Health and safety protocols permitting, “Christmas in the Country” may also include opportunities to enjoy hot chocolate, candy canes, Christmas trees, and more to help bring out the holiday spirit.

Santa’s House & Classic Carousel in Mission Plaza

SAN LUIS OBISPO - The Holiday season will kick off on Saturday, November 28 with Shop Small Saturday, celebrating local businesses. Santa’s House, the Classic Carousel, and the 21-foot Holiday Tree will be on display in Mission Plaza, with opportunities for festive family photos.

Holiday Express and North Pole Express

FILLMORE - Experience Fillmore & Western holiday train adventures. Ride the “Holiday Express” day train or ride the “North Pole Express” at night! “Holiday Express” departs from Fillmore and takes you to Prancer’s Christmas Farm. There you can explore a variety of fun attractions and have the option to purchase a pre-cut tree! At night, “North Pole Express” departs from Prancer’s Christmas Farm in Santa Paula and takes you on a 1-hour trip to see Santa at the North Pole!

Giant Crab Pot Tree

MORRO BAY - Morro Bay gets into the holiday spirit while remembering its fishing roots with a giant tree made entirely from commercial crab pots.  All December long you can find the Morro Bay crab pot tree on the South T-Pier.  It is the perfect spot to snap a festive family holiday picture with Morro Rock in the background.

Cal Poly Symphony Fall Presentation (Virtual)

SAN LUIS OBISPO - Virtual event. The Cal Poly Symphony will present the music of George Walker and Ludwig van Beethoven in its fall virtual presentation at 7:30 p.m. In addition to the 20-minute concert portion, students will be interviewed about their experiences with the challenging process of preparing for and presenting a concert during a pandemic, and behind the scenes videos from fall quarter rehearsals will be shown.

Festival of Lights and Jingle Mingle Holiday Market

SANTA MARIA - The inaugural Festival of Lights Holiday Event and second annual Jingle Mingle Holiday Market this year, along with Food trucks – fair themed of course – a live Mr. and Mrs. Claus, and thousands of lights. The Festival of Lights will be a drive-thru event with fair food trucks being located at the end of the drive. The Jingle Mingle Holiday Market is an amazing craft fair showcasing local artists and crafters.

Drive In Light Up the Downtown

ATASCADERO - The City of Atascadero is delighted to present its annual Light Up the Downtown Holiday Celebration Drive-In to be held on Friday, December 4, 2020 from 5:30 pm - 7:30 pm in the Sunken Gardens, Downtown Atascadero. Due to COVID-19, it will be a scaled-down, safe event for the entire family to enjoy!

Buellton Farmer’s Market & Poker Run

BUELLTON - Celebrate the holidays with a Poker Run on December 5th and Christmas Farmer’s Market on December 6th.  Poker Run participants must visit five checkpoints, drawing a playing card at each one. The object is to have the best poker hand at the end of the run. There will be prizes. Holiday spirited attire is welcome. Santa & Mrs. Claus will be available at the Farmer’s Market on Sunday from 3-5pm along with a jazz band, food truck, and a light display.

SAN LUIS OBISPO - Virtual event. A variety of virtual choir presentations will be featured, with special guest appearances by the Valencia High School Choirs and Canzona Women’s Ensemble among others.

44th Annual Parade of Lights and Fireworks

VENTURA - Ventura Harbor celebrates the holiday season with its 44th annual Parade of Lights! The 2020 theme, "Kaleidoscope Holidays" pays homage to all things colorful. Now more than ever we need joyful reminders of how sweet life is, so we look forward to sharing this burst of color and holiday cheer on-the-water with the community and visitors this December.

Virtual Holiday Magic at the Charles Paddock Zoo

ATASCADERO - The Annual Holiday Magic celebration is back! Zookeepers have stepped in as Santa’s Elves to prepare gifts for the animals. Santa will be at the Zoo on Saturday, December 19th to help welcome visitors and deliver gifts to the animals. Join Santa and the staff for some Holiday Magic at the Charles Paddock Zoo to enjoy the festivities!

Cambria Film Festival

CAMBRIA - The 4th annual Cambria Film Festival offers guests a hybrid viewing experience. The 68 selected films will be presented with a mix of virtual screenings and a few, limited capacity, theater viewings. These international films focus on romance, romantic comedies and the complexities of love. Over the course of the four-day festival, guests will watch the best of the submitted shorts, features and documentaries.

Fiesta in a Bottle

AVILA BEACH - Come kick off summer in Avila Beach at Fiesta In A Bottle - 9th Annual Tequila Festival at the Avila Beach Golf Resort. This takes place on Memorial Weekend (Saturday, May 23rd) and will feature live music by Ozomatli and La Marcha! Doors open at 12pm. Tequila Tastings 12-3pm; La Marcha 1-2:30pm; Ozomatlj: 3:15-5pm. Events ends at 5pm. 21+ to enter.

27th Annual Avila Beach Blues Festival

AVILA BEACH - A landmark Central Coast event highlighting top name entertainment. This is the party that kicks off the outdoor concert season! With VIP, Beach Club Balcony, reserved theater-style and table seating and General Admission Lawn tickets available for sale. Gates open at noon and the show will start at 2PM and continue until sunset! Approximate show times are: Christone "Kingfish" Ingram 2pm-3pm; WAR 3:30-4:45pm; George Thorogood & The Destroyers 5:15-6:45pm.

Seven Sisters Quilt Show

SAN LUIS OBISPO - The Seven Sisters Quilt Show features a display of hundreds of quilts and garments showcased by members of six Central Coast quilt guilds. The show provides educational judging for the participants and sponsored monetary awards. Attendees can vote for their favorite quilt, challenge quilt and garment.
