Bruce Munro: Field of Light at Sensorio

PASO ROBLES - Internationally-acclaimed artist Bruce Munro will premier his largest artwork to date—an enormous multi-acre walk-through installation—at Sensorio in Paso Robles, California beginning May 19, 2019. Bruce Munro: Field of Light at Sensorio will use an array of over 58,800 stemmed spheres lit by fiber-optics, gently illuminating the landscape in subtle blooms of morphing color that describe the undulating landscape.

Egypt’s Lost Cities at The Ronald Reagan Presidential Library and Museum

SIMI VALLEY - 1200 years ago, two bustling cities in ancient Egypt were known throughout the world as cultural centers of power, wealth, trade, and artistry. One day as the Mediterranean sun beat down on the bay of Aboukir, the cities slipped into the sea, buried for centuries. Just one decade ago, underwater archeologist Franck Goddio delivered the discovery of a millennium when he located the entire civilization.

‘Spirited Symphonies: Es muss sein’ presented by the Santa Maria Philharmonic

SANTA MARIA - Celebrate Beethoven’s 250th birthday with his joyous Symphony No. 8 which explodes with high-spirits and merriment. Also on the program is Mozart’s ‘Sinfonia Concertant’ considered his greatest string concerto, featuring the exceptional artistry of Concertmaster Mary Beth Woodruff, and guest violist Andrew Duckles, and Bartók’s ‘Romanian Folk Dances’, with haunting Romanian folk melodies and authentic folk music Bartók brought to the world.

Celebration of the Whales Festival

OXNARD - The Channel Islands Maritime Museum hosts a free family-friendly whale-themed festival in conjunction with the 23rd annual Celebration of the Whales event at Channel Islands Harbor. The festival features hands-on educational booths, including a live touch tank, craft activities, a bounce house, art vendors, contests with prizes, live entertainment, food trucks, and much more. Monotypes Using Gelatin Plates

SANTA PAULA - Monotypes using gelatin prints is a fast and fun experience in printmaking. Students learn to make their own gelatin plate, use a variety of tools to create expressive and spontaneous imagery, and employ water-based inks to generate multiple prints to take home. Cruisin’ Morro Bay Car Show

MORRO BAY - Celebrating its 24th year, this popular car show starts Thursday evening when rare cars begin arriving in Morro Bay for registration. On Friday, visitors are invited to secure a spot on Main Street for Cruise Night at 6 p.m. as classic and other rare cars cruise past. Continue the "Show & Shine" on Saturday between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. and talk with the car owners. The event wraps up on Sunday morning with the announcement of the prize winners.
