Ojai’s Pink Moment

Magical. Phenomenal. Spiritual.

Just a few of the words used to describe Ojai’s Pink Moment.

Located two hours north of Los Angeles in Ventura County, this artsy, restful, rural area has a reputation for what the locals call “the pink moment”. The “moment” even has it’s own Twitter account!

You can witness it at dusk when – as the sun sets – its light bounces off the Topa Topa Mountains, and the Ojai Valley is bathed in muted tones of pink, red, and every peachy shade in between. Apparently, Ojai is one of the few places to experience a “pink moment”, and it is considered to be at its most stunning between November and February. After the sun sets, the moon glows over the valley. Perhaps this is how it came to be called Ojai (pronounced O-hi) – the Chumash word for “moon”.

Inspired by Ojai’s famous sunsets, Casa Ojai and Su Nido Inn offer special packages, as well as Iguana Inns of Ojai Pink Moment Package that includes side by side massages, in-room wine basket, gourmet chocolates, olive oil from the Ojai Olive Oil Company, and more.

Learn more about the Chumash culture and Ojai’s history at the Ojai Valley Museum. The building is on the National Register of Historic Places and includes sculptures in the front courtyard and garden behind the museum, which is housed in the former St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church.
