You and your family simply must make plans now to see Shrek The Musical here in all its joy at the outdoor Solvang Festival Theater. Performed by acclaimed actors of PCPA (Pacific Conservatory Theatre), all the beloved characters you know from the Oscar-winning movie are brought to life on stage in this Tony Award-winning adventure: the reluctant hero Shrek, the Donkey, Fiona, a short tempered bad guy, a cookie with an attitude, and more fairy tale misfits–be ready to cheer and be transformed! Performances are Tuesday-Sunday now thru July 31. Tickets are available online at www.pcpa.org or at the Theater box office located at 420 Second Street. On July 20 (Solvang Third Wednesday) adult tickets are 25% off (and be sure to ask about seasonal senior, student, or child pricing—yet remember, kids under 5 are not admitted into the theater.) Solvang Festival Theater is within easy walking distance of hotels, restaurants and local attractions. As Shrek would say, “For your information, there’s a lot more to ogres than people think.”

Holiday Shopping as Easy as A-B-C (and D!)
OK, holiday shoppers. It’s that time of year again. You’ve probably got a long list of people to shop for, with limited time and a limited budget. But it’s easy to find great gifts—and great bargains—when you shop at Gilroy Premium Outlets.
With over 145 stores spread out over more than 50 acres, outlet shopping might seem a little overwhelming at first. Veteran Gilroy shoppers tend to have their “go-to” favorites and can plan their trips accordingly. But if you’re a first time visitor to Gilroy Premium Outlets, we’ve got a strategy to help you make the most of your time here.
Gilroy Premium Outlets is divided into four main sections. If you look at the outlet map you’ll see that they’re labelled A, B, C, and D. Although it is possible to walk between sections, you’re probably going to be loaded down with shopping bags full of all the great deals you’re going to find. So we recommend that you park your car at each section, shop ’til you (almost) drop, and then drive to the next area.
A is for All-Stars
Let’s start with Section A, which was the first section of stores to be built alongside Highway 101 and remains the biggest, with over 55 stores. You should budget at least 2-3 hours to do this section justice. Fortunately, there’s a centrally located Starbucks so you can rest and recharge along the way!
Section A is anchored by the huge (and hugely popular) Nike store, which is filled with a colorful range of athletic shoes and clothing for men, women, kids and teens—all at prices 25-65% below what you’d pay at the mall.
You can also find great deals on jeans (Levi’s, Calvin Klein, Lucky Brand, or True Religion) as well as jewelry (Jared Vault, Zales, or Kay Jewelers). You can pick up stylish gifts for those hard-to-buy-for teens and tweens at Aeropostale and Forever 21. If you’re looking for a truly special gift that is sure to impress, Section A is home to the venerable Coach outlet store as well as Michael Kors, the Movado Company Store, and Wilson Leather.
While you’re in the neighborhood, be sure to stop by and see us in the Gilroy Welcome Center. We’ve got helpful maps and discount coupon books…plus a great selection of unique Gilroy gifts!
B is for Babies (and Big Boys Too)
Section B is THE place to go if you’re shopping for babies or young kids. Within easy walking distance you can hit Carter’s, The Children’s Place, and Osh Kosh B’Gosh.
If you’ve got bigger people on your shopping list, you’ll want to check out the great selection and fantastic prices at Kenneth Cole, Brooks Brothers, Adidas, and Polo Ralph Lauren. You can also pick up gift baskets and fun stocking stuffers at Crabtree & Evelyn or Bath & Body Works.
Getting hungry? Grab some lunch at Erik’s DeliCafe or Applebee’s. Just be sure you don’t leave Section B without a stop at the DeBrito Chocolate Factory. Their gorgeous gourmet caramel apples are the ultimate indulgence and make wonderful gifts for everyone on your list!
C is for Cool, Cute and Chic Clothes
Section C is home to several top brand-name clothing stores, including Abercrombie & Fitch, Saks Fifth Avenue “Off Fifth,”American Apparel, J. Crew, Banana Republic, Vans, and Ann Taylor.
Still stuck for gift ideas? Stock up on great Disney deals at the Disney Store Outlet or pick out some cute earrings and accessories at Claire’s. A new watch always makes a perfect gift, and you’ll discover a fantastic selection at the Time Factory Watch Outlet. You can also find sweet treats (and free samples!) at the Jelly Belly Factory Outlet.
D is for Discounts and Deals
Section D is the newest (and smallest) section of Gilroy Premium Outlets, but it’s definitely worth the extra trip. You can get great discounts on fashions for the whole family at the Gap Outlet, or shop for fashionable watches, wallets and more at Fossil. Be sure to check out the in-store demos of headphones, speakers and home theater systems—and the super-low prices—at the Bose Factory Outlet.
This collection of stores is also perfect for athletes and outdoors lovers. You can gear up for winter fun at The North Face and Columbia Sportswear. Find gifts for runners and riders at Pearl Izumi and all kinds of athletic gear at Reebok. Section D is also home to the only Lululemon Athletica outlet store in Northern California!
Whew. We know it’s a lot of ground to cover. But when you shop at Gilroy Premium Outlets, you can take care of all your holiday shopping without busting your budget—and without fighting all the holiday traffic at the malls.
With the money you save, why not treat yourself to a night in a nearby hotel so you can stay and shop another day? That way, you can take some time to unwind and explore downtown Gilroy’s charming shops and restaurants as well as award-winning wineries along the Santa Clara Valley Wine Trail.
