Monterey Bay Aquarium

886 Cannery Row
Monterey, CA 93940

Description

The Monterey Bay Aquarium is recognized as one of the top family-friendly aquariums in the world and has been the trendsetter in exhibits, education and conservation leadership for 25 years. It is routinely ranked as the No. 1 aquarium in the United States, and is a leader in the international aquarium community. It was the first aquarium to offer special exhibitions and the first to create a dedicated area for children and families with literally a children's museum inside an aquarium. The Monterey Bay Aquarium is the only institution to successfully exhibit great white sharks and is home to the first and largest living kelp forest community ever created at an aquarium. At 28 feet tall, the aquarium's Kelp Forest exhibit is also one of the world's tallest aquarium exhibits. Home to one of the world's largest jellyfish galleries, the Monterey Bay Aquarium has pioneered the display and culture of jellyfish—most of the jellies on display are grown right on site.
