MEDIA CENTER

Dear Media Professional,
Central Coast Tourism Council and its member organizations welcome the opportunity to work with the media and provide inspiring stories and photos from this unique destination. Be assured that warm, genuine California hospitality awaits visitors to our region.

Experience "The Original Road Trip" and explore the Central Coast. In the heart of California between San Francisco and Los Angeles, the Central Coast stretches over 300 miles from Santa Cruz, two hours south of San Francisco, down to Oxnard, about an hour north of Los Angeles.

An adventure beyond the gateway cities of Los Angeles and San Francisco will let you see and feel the real California. It's a rambling road trip with “pinch me it's so beautiful” scenery including, redwood forests, waterfalls, vineyards, the surfing beaches and wild unspoiled coastline. Observe wildlife right from the shore or on a whale watching cruise; you'll see Gray Whales, Humpbacks, Blue Whales and Orcas. Harbor Seals, Sea Lions, Sea Otters and Elephant Seals are plentiful and it's a birdwatcher's paradise, including sightings of the endangered Condor. Hike and explore along the many trails in national and state parks including Pinnacles National Park and Channel Islands National Park.

Step back into time at historic Hearst Castle; discover the mysterious undersea world at the Monterey Bay Aquarium, named #1 aquarium in the world by TripAdvisor; experience National Steinbeck Center and the literary legacy created by John Steinbeck; be a kid again and thrill to Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk's entertainment in the style of a bygone era; enjoy a visit to Solvang, where the cuisine, architecture and shops "transport you" to the "Danish Capital of America”, warm days await in Santa Barbara, dubbed the American Riviera or plan your visit during one of many special events such as the popular Gilroy Garlic Festival.

Not only is the scenery inspiring and amazing you'll enjoy culinary delights, farm to table cuisine, craft beers and world-renowned wine at the many restaurants, cafes and wineries along the Central Coast. Grab your hiking boots, dress shoes and flip flops then get out and experience the Original Road Trip along California's Central Coast!

Warm regards,

Blair Robinson
