Known as the “Garlic Capital of the World,” the city (and thousands of devoted local volunteers) put on a rousing and world-famous garlic festival the last weekend of July. The festival draws more than 100,000 visitors with its fabulous food, entertainment, cooking competitions, activities, unique crafts, and a children’s area. Recently, organizers have refocused efforts to feature regional products and sustainable practices throughout the internationally-heralded three-day event.
