Pismo Beach Monarch Butterfly Grove

Each year thousands of vibrant orange and black Monarch Butterflies flock to Pismo Beach, seeking shelter from the freezing northern winters. From late October to February, the butterflies cluster in the limbs of a grove of Eucalyptus trees at Pismo State Beach. The grove is easily accessible. It is located on State Highway 1 at the south boundary of the city limits of Pismo Beach.

Serenity Season

Cambria Christmas Market

Join us for the 5th Annual Cambria Christmas Market, a festive ongoing gathering in the style of Germany's Christmas Markets with nightly entertainment. 5pm to 9pm nightly. Parade of Lights

Channel Islands Harbor will hold its 50th annual Parade of Lights noon – 8 p.m., Dec. 12, with the parade beginning at 7 p.m. Everyone is invited to enjoy a full day of holiday activities, including a snowplay area, Santa and Mrs. Claus, holiday artists’ market, exhibitors, live music, children’s activities, and much more.

Christmas on the Foxen Canyon Wine Trail

The wineries on Foxen Canyon produce award-winning wines in a friendly, welcoming setting, while also providing jobs in viticulture and in the service industry. 55th Annual Old Town Orcutt Annual Christmas Parade

The parade has been a holiday favorite since 1961. Started by the volunteer fire department, the parade remains a hometown afternoon event. Parade-goers will see kids, dogs, floats, animals, cars, bands and a special appearance by Santa Claus.

First Night Monterey

First Night Monterey celebrates the lively arts scene in Monterey County with its family-friendly celebration of the arts on New Years Eve. Over thirty venues hold concurrent performances and activities for both children and adults, culminating in a convergence on Custom House Plaza to ring in the New Year.

AT&T Pebble Beach National Pro-Am

Since Bing Crosby brought his Clambake to Pebble Beach more than 60 years ago, the tournament now known as the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am draws talented PGA TOUR pros and an amateur field best known for its celebrities, and has raised more than $100 million for charity. The final round at Pebble Beach features the top-scoring pros and amateur players. Shuttles run from Carmel to the tournament.

Relais & Châteaux GourmetFest

The GourmetFest is an international food and wine festival in the quaint village of Carmel-by-the-Sea. The festival features the talents of Relais & Châteaux Chefs from around the world. Events include an opening night welcome party, a cooking demo, wine tastings, off-site tours combined with exciting lunches, featured chefs, world-class wine dinners, a rarities dinner, and a closing seafood grill and Champagne tasting.

Big Sur International Marathon

Considered one of the most scenic marathons in the country — and one of the most difficult — the Big Sur International Marathon gives athletes the rare opportunity to run 26.2 miles of coastline affording some of the most stunning views on the West Coast. With live music, devoted volunteers, and efficiencies borne of more than two decades of experience staging the run and its accompanying events, the Big Sur Marathon is so popular that it sells out almost every year.

24th Annual Carmel Art Festival

Combining plein aire painting and live sculpting with exhibits and sales, and lots of live music, the Carmel Art Festival takes over Devendorf Park and nearby side streets for three days of artistic creativity and consumption. Artists create in the park and outdoors throughout Carmel-by-the-Sea and Carmel beach. This free event features Sculpture in the Park, along with live music, awards, and live and silent auctions of the plein aire pieces.
