Located on scenic Highway 1 midway between LA and San Francisco, this impressive hilltop estate was originally built by art collector W. R. Hearst. Today it’s one of America’s best known house museums and part of California State Parks. Its art, originating mostly from Europe, complements the architecture and gardens. Guided tours are offered year around. Over 20,000 artifacts from classical antiquity to art deco are on display for the public to learn about and enjoy.

The Hearst Castle Theater at the Visitor Center is a giant screen theater showing an originally produced 40-minute film about the history of the Castle which begins every 45 minutes and is included with most of the daytime tour tickets. The Visitor Center also features free museum exhibits, a gift and museum shop, food service and locally produced beer and wine. Tour reservations are strongly recommended and may be made via www.HearstCastle.org or (800) 444 4445.
